Tangen Billing Makes Academic All-District Team
For the fifth year in row, Florida Southern placed one player on the Academic All-District Team, with goalkeeper Martina Tangen Billing earning that honor this year. The senior from Uppsala, Sweden is now eligible for the Academic All-American Team which is voted on later in November. To be considered for the team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key reserve.
Tangen Billing, who is majoring in business administration, started every game for the Moccasins for the fourth year in a row, and her 75 career starts and appearances are the most for any goalkeeper in team history. This year she had a 1.15 goals against average, ranked second in the Sunshine State Conference with 66 saves, and had an .815 save percentage. She’ll graduate as Florida Southern’s career leader in goals against average and shutouts, and is all-time in saves. Among her other honors are three SSC All-Tournament awards from 2008-10.
