Stauch and Mocs Pull Away, Lead After Two Days At USF Invitational
Matt Stauch and his Moccasin teamates pulled way from the rest of the field Saturday to take the lead on the second day of the University of South Florida Invitational at Lake Jovita in Dade City.
Stauch shot a career-best, bogey-free round of seven-under-par 65 to give him a two-day score of 133 and a six-stroke lead going into Sunday's final round. Marc Ettienne Bussieres of South Alabama and Moccasin teammate Shelton Smith are tied for second at 139. Smith shot a five-under-par 67 Saturday.
Shooting a team score of 281 Saturday, the Moccasins opened up a five-stroke lead over the rest of the 24-team field with a two-day total of 569. Middle Tennessee is second at 574. North Florida, South Alabama and Xavier are tied for third at 575.
Jude Eustaquio shot a 73 Saturday and is tied for 23rd at 145. Danny Evelyn had a 76 and is tied for 96the at 154. Lee White came in with an 81 and is tied for 105th at 157.
The Moccasins are the only Division II team in the field. The tournament concludes Sunday.
