Men's Soccer Wins NSCAA Academic Award

For the third year in a row, the Florida Southern men's soccer team has been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as one of the top academic teams in the country, and this year as the number one team in all of Division II. The NSCAA Team Academic Award is earned by those programs owning a collective grade point average of 3.00 or better during the season, with this year's honor covering the 2008-09 academic year.
Florida Southern was one of 143 schools at all levels of college soccer to be recognized, a total that includes all 4-year schools, as well as junior and community colleges. The Moccasins had a team GPA of 3.45, bettering their mark of 2008, when they posted a team GPA of 3.27 to place fourth in the Division II rankings. Coach Hugh Seyfarth's team finished well ahead of second-place Regis (CO), which had a 3.30 GPA. It's the third year in a row the Moccasins have been ranked in the top ten.
Behind Florida Southern and Regis in the Division II rankings, were Drury (MO) at 3.27, Colorado School of Mines at 3.25, and Seattle Pacific at 3.25.
Rollins and Barry were also among the 23 Division II schools listed.
