SAVANNAH, GA - With Rae-Lynn Sheffield winning the 200-yard individual medley and swimming one leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay team, Florida Southern wrapped up the Savannah College of Art & Design Invitational with a second-place finish in the 11-team event.

Sheffield captured the 200-yard IM with a school-record time of 2:11.90, which was actually the second time she set the record on Saturday. The first was in the preliminaries, which she also won with a time of 2:12.94. Sheffield was't finished either. In the final women's event of the meet, she was part of another school record as the Mocs' edged Wingate by .18 seconds to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:51.66. Sheffield was the second leg, with Anna McIntyre giving FSC the early lead in that race. Liz Broadley and Cara Potter then closed it out.

While the day ended with a win by the Moccasins, it nearly started with one too. The first event in Saturday's finals was the 400-yard freestyle relay, where the Mocs finished less than two-tenths of a second behind the winning team from Wingate. Sheffield, McIntyre and Potter were a part of that one too, with help from Kelly Ruf.

Sheffield also qualified for the finals in the 100-yard breaststroke, along with Missy Witt, with the two Moccasins finishing sixth and eighth respectively.

Broadley made the finals in the 500-yard freestyle and broke her own school record with a time of 5:09.51, earning her a second-place finish.

Both Broadley and Kelsey Duncan were in the finals of the 200-yard butterfly, with Duncan placing third and Broadley eighth. Duncan gave the Mocs a school record in that event as well, swimming the race in a time of 2:12.89.

Florida Southern finished the meet with 669 points, with Wingate taking the title with 902. Host Savannah A&D was third with 519 points, followed by Catawba (410) and North Florida (353).

The SCAD Invitational concludes first-semester competition for the Moccasins. Their next meet will come on January 4, when they host Berry (GA) at 1:00 p.m.
