Lady Mocs Set One Team Record, One Individual Record
Cara Potter's leg on the 800-yard freestyle relay set a record for the 200-yard freestyle One team school record and one individual school record were set by the Lady Mocs on the first day of competition at the Savannah College of Art & Design Invitational Thursday.
With a runner-up finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay, the team of Cara Potter, Rae-Lynn Sheffield, Anna McIntyre and Liz Broadley broke the school record for the event with a time of 7:53.29, topping the previous mark of 8:16.22 set in 2006. In addition, Potter's lead-off leg in a time of 1:56.23 broke the individual mark in the 200-yard freestyle that Broadley had set two weeks ago (1:58.34).
The Moccasins did not have anyone entered in the day's other final event, the 1650-yard freestyle.
Final events set for Friday are the 400-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 400-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle relay.
The meet continues through Saturday.
