Good Start For Mocs At SCAD Invitational
Bruce Janzen set a school record for the 200-yard freestyleThe Moccasins had a good start in the first day of competition at the Savannah College of Art & Design Invitational, setting a school record in the 800-yard freestyle relay and getting an individual record as well Thursday.
The relay team of Bruce Janzen, Greg Gorman, Kelly Dorian and Hank Harris established a new record with a time of 7:15.14 while finishing fifth in the event. The previous mark, set last year, had been 7:19.44. In addition to the relay team record, Janzen's leg in a time of 1:45.61 set the individual school record in the 200-yard freestyle, topping the previous mark of 1:47.44 established in 2005 by Bryan O'Hare.
FSC did not have anyone entered in the other final event of the day, the 1650-yard freestyle.
Final events scheduled for Friday are the 400-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 400-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle relay.
The meet continues through Saturday.
