Mocs Make It Look Easy, Win By 53 At Saint Leo Invitational
Audette, Dittertova Finish 1-2
M.J. Audette won her second tournament of the fallThe Moccasins made it look easy. Starting the day with a 20-stroke lead, the Moccasins built it to 53 in winning the Saint Leo Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club Tuesday.
First-round leader M.J. Audette shot a second straight round of two-over-par 74 and won her second tournament of the fall with a final score of 148, five strokes better than teammate Silvie Dittertova, who also shot a 74 in the final round and finished second at 153.
Marianne Andersson tied for third with Florida Tech's Jessica Hook at 155. Andersson shot a 76 in the final round, while Hook had the best round of the day with an even-par 72. Emily Flanigan finished eighth at 159 after shooting a 78 in the final round. Rounding out the Moccasin contingent, Kim Ulander had a 76 and tied for ninth at 160.
Audette, Dittertova, Hook, Andersson and Saint Leo's Anna Riss, the top five individuals, were named to the all-tournament team.
FSC also had three golfers playing individually. Connie Reed tied for 21st with a 173, Amy Hodgkinson tied for 33rd with a 178 and Adrienne Twinem tied for 35th with a 179.
The Moccasins knocked 13 strokes off their first-round score of 313, shooting 300 Tuesday to finish at 613. Runner-up West Florida had a second straight round of 333 to finish at 666. Sunshine State Conference schools Saint Leo (3rd - 671), Florida Tech (6th - 681) and Eckerd (7th - 692) also were in the nine-team field.
The final fall tournament for the Moccasins will be the Stetson Fall Classic Nov. 2-3 in Deland.
